*\o\Edward Masen Cullen/o/*
“I’ve been thinking about getting another tattoo,” she whispered as her fingers trail over the lettering along my ribcage. When Bella first noticed the name Masen inked on my side, she looked at me questioningly.
At the time she only knew me as Edward Cullen, I hadn’t told her about Edward Masen, my real father, and what how he died serving his country during the Gulf War.
I supposed in that way she and I were a lot alike. We were both young when we lost our fathers, and we both chose to have our first tats in memory of them. It was one of the first things that really drew me to her, that and her fine ass… I digress.
“Oh really? What were you thinking about getting next?” I asked her as my eyes followed that path of her wandering fingers.
After I got my Masen tat, I became a little obsessed with ink. The next one was Alice and Mom’s birth dates on my bicep, then my lip ring. After that, was my koi tat which I got from Jake when he was working in this shithole parlor in Hollywood.
I had spent weeks drawing the design over and over trying to get it perfect. So when I finally brought it in, Jake was majorly impressed with my design and wanted to see more.
We ended up getting pretty close and became fast friends during the sessions. We started hanging out, hitting bars on the weekends and shit. Jake was the first to consider that our combined talents might be able to make us some money. So while he was teaching me how to transition my designs from paper to skin, we were working on setting up our own business, and when Carlisle’s niece Rosalie got tired of being a secretary, she came on board to help us as well.
“I was looking through your designs while you were in the shower the other day,” she admitted bashfully.
“You should have been in the shower with me,” I grumbled, pulling her on top of me, making her giggle when my erection brushed against her smooth thigh.
“Hard again… already?” she said breathily, making me groan.
The girl just had no idea the kind of effect she had on me. “I’m always hard for you,” I admitted, brushing my lips over her neck. “You mentioned something about looking through my designs?”
“Fuck… oh yeah the designs,” she panted a little before sliding off me and back onto her side. "You’re entirely too distracting. Did you know that?”
“You just have a short attention span… you were telling me about the design you wanted,” I teased.
“Yeah, yeah… I was looking through your design book and I found this gorgeous heart design. I’ve never seen anything like it. I like how the center was open too, you know… to add someone’s initials,” she said nervously, averting her eyes.
I knew exactly what design she was talking about and the fact that it was the one that stood out over all the others caused a strange tightening in my chest. Was it a fucking sign?
“I designed that tattoo for myself,” I told her.
“Oh… well… I guess I could pick something else,” she said dejectedly.
“Hey… now none of that, Darlin’ – I want you to have it. In fact, we could get them done together, I’m ready now.”
“Yeah, baby.” She smiled brightly, before letting her fingers trace the empty space on my chest, one of the few places on my torso that was free from ink.
“Is that why you don’t have any ink here?” I nodded watching her wondering what she was thinking. “Why did you wait?”
There was the question… why did I wait… I knew the answer, but the question was, was she ready to hear it? I swallowed reflexively, looking down at her questioning eyes.
“I was saving it for someone special…” I told her anxiously, hoping my admission didn’t send her running again.
“I was saving it for you.”
