Chapter 61
*~Bella Swan~*

After Jasper’s admission, everything just got ridiculously awkward. Edward was still trying to suppress his laughter while poor Alice just looked stunned.

I had to admit it was a little funny.

She just looked so shocked. What all this more than her delicate teenage psyche could handle?

I for one did not want to see her cute little head explode.

Jasper on the other hand was staring at me with a look that could only be described as longing.

The kid needed to chill out. For real.

“Why don’t we... umm... take this conversation to the dinner table?” Edward’s mom suggested, thankfully breaking some of the tension in the room. I breathed a relieved sigh and allowed Edward to help me to stand from the crouching position I’d taken when Jasper fell. “Alice, you and Jasper go wash up before supper.”

The kids hadn’t listened to Esme’s direction and they each continued to sit there, staring at me in their own creepy way. Fucking scary tweens.

Within seconds, Edward had led me out of the front room and into a modest dining room with a table set for dinner. “Fuck,” he chuckled quietly “I’m so sorry.”

The laughter hadn’t left his voice.

As much as I wanted to be upset about my situation, because things were seriously not going well, I just couldn’t. Edward was obviously finding amusement in all this, so he couldn’t have been that unhappy with the way events were unfolding.

“What the hell was that?” I whispered seriously.

“I told you my family was strange,” he reminded, his face turning serious suddenly. “We can go if you want?”

“No! That’s not... I don’t want to go. I just feel bad, like I’ve brought chaos here or something,” I explained in a rush, not wanting him to think that I couldn’t handle this.

“Maybe you should have told them about me first.”

“Yeah, I think you might be right,” he admitted warily just as Carlisle joined in the dining room.

“Bella, I’d like to apologise for my family's behavior. They aren’t used to... meeting celebrities,” he explained with a wry grin.

I knew he wasn’t Edward’s real father, but I could definitely see where Edward got a lot of his mannerisms. In that way, they seemed every bit father and son.

“It’s quite alright,” I replied with a shy smile. Alice and Jasper each chose that moment to join us, and Esme followed behind bringing in a large platter loaded down with the most delicious smelling food.

“I hope this is alright... it’s nothing fancy....”

“It smells fucking delicious,” I admitted before realizing my slip “Shit! Oh damnit... I mean oh God... I’m sorry.”

My hand covered my mouth as everyone stared at me wide eyed, all except Edward who was trying so hard not to laugh that he was fucking shaking again.

I might have thought he’d have been the first to laugh, but it was Esme who broke the silence, followed by Edward, and Carlisle and finally me when I realized just how ridiculous I actually sounded. Alice and Jasper just looked absolutely horrified. Guess they didn’t expect the Girl Next Door to have a potty mouth.

After my outburst, dinner seemed to go by without much incident. Jasper and Alice even calmed down long enough to pepper me with dozens of questions. Mostly they wanted to ask about the show and the rest of the questions were them asking if I was going to make another Girl Next Door movie. I felt so guilty having to say no to them that I almost reconsidered my decision to decline the film.

Once it was time for Edward and I to leave, Jasper and Alice came up and hugged me. Jasper apologized for telling me he loved me, explaining that he hadn’t meant it in a romantic way and that he was just a big fan.

He even made sure to tell me that he had posters of me in his room.

Right... thats not creepy at all!
